Representative Judgments and Settlements


The firm has been successful concluding cases involving medical malpractice, airplane crashes, car wrecks, hotel security, shopping center security, slip and falls, industrial accidents, and truck accidents for sums ranging between several thousand dollars to several million dollars.

 

Agnor v. Tuner Brothers Crane & Rigging, CV 00-2536, U. S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana, June 2002

Settlement involving a crane accident with severe injuries to the foot of the victim. The combined settlement with the crane company and the worker's compensation insurance carrier was valued in excess of $465,000.00.

 

Carter v. City of Bossier, et al, CV 102,836, U. S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana, May 2002

Six figure settlement resulting from the murder of the mother of two children by a Bossier City fireman.  Claim asserted the failure of the police and others to properly respond and investigate the stalking and domestic violence conducted toward the decedent in the days leading up to her death. Fireman had previously been convicted of stalking.

 

Reid v. State of Louisiana through DOTD, et al,   637 So.2d 618 (La.App.2d Cir., 1994)

Judgment in excess of $880,000.00 awarded for the death and loss of services/income of Husband/father for negligent maintenance of highway construction zone on Interstate 20 in Caddo Parish.  Case reported in ALR, Treatise for Loss of Services, and Maryland Law Review.

 

Hood v. State Through Department of Transportation, 587 So. 2d 755 (La. App. 2d. Cir. 1991)

Judgment in excess of $1,425,000.00 awarded for head injury to a minor child and for future loss of income against the State Department of Highways for defective drop off condition between the shoulder and the road in Claiborne Parish.  Case reported in ALR, Causes of Action 2nd, Stein on Personal Injury Damages, Am. Jur. Proof of Facts, 3rd.

 

Litton v. Ford Motor Co., 554 So.2d 99 (La. App. 2d Cir., 1989), writ denied 599 So.2d 1353 (La. 1990)

Judgment in excess of $1,450,000.00 awarded for the death of wife/mother and injuries to a child.  Case involved liability issues intersectional collision with a caution light and the liability of Ford rent car and insurance agreements in DeSoto Parish.  Case reported in ALR.

 

Thomas v. State Farm Ins. Co. Cite: 499 So.2d 562 (La.App. 2d Cir., 1986)

Trial court judgment in excess of $2,190,000 against State Highway Department awarded for the death of wife/mother and injuries to a minor child for highway defect creating a hydroplaning condition in the road in Claiborne Parish.  Case reported in ALR,  Stein on Personal Injury Damages, Maryland Law Review.
